Training for managers
Anyone in a managerial role knows how crucial it is to have the right training to handle their responsibilities effectively, especially when it comes to workplace safety. The manager’s role, in fact, is not only to coordinate ordinary activities, but also to ensure that they are carried out in full compliance with current safety regulations. That is why specific training for managers is an unavoidable obligation, as well as a valuable investment for the company.
What is manager training and why is it essential?
Manager training is a mandatory training course required by Italian law, specifically by Legislative Decree 81/2008 and the State-Regions Agreement of 21 December 2011. Its purpose is to provide managers with all the skills they need to perform their health and safety duties correctly. A properly trained manager knows how to prevent risk situations, handle emergencies and, above all, keep their colleagues safe.
This training not only makes it possible to handle emergencies promptly, but actively contributes to reducing risks through in-depth knowledge of the safety measures to be adopted.
What are the obligations for manager training?
According to the State-Regions agreement, every manager must attend a specific course lasting at least 16 hours. This training is valid for five years, so it must be renewed periodically in order to stay up to date with any regulatory changes and best operating practices.
Main content of manager training
European and national legal principles on occupational health and safety
Criminal and civil liability of managers
Management and organisation of company safety
Risk assessment and preventive measures to adopt
Communication and management of company emergencies
Every manager, therefore, learns not only to know the laws in depth, but above all to interpret and apply them concretely in their own working environment.
Who must attend manager training courses?
Manager training is not aimed exclusively at administrative or technical managers, but at everyone in positions of responsibility and coordination, such as area managers, department heads, and in general figures with a role defined under Article 2 of Legislative Decree 81/2008.
Whether you work in manufacturing, administration or services, this training is essential and mandatory.
The concrete benefits of manager training
Attending a manager training course offers concrete and tangible benefits. First of all, it improves the manager’s decision-making ability, providing tools to assess risks and handle critical situations with confidence and competence. It also helps create a safer and more motivating working environment, increasing employees’ trust in company management.
A trained manager becomes a point of reference for colleagues and knows how to communicate effectively, involving the entire company in compliance with safety regulations.
How to choose the right manager training course?
Today there are many accredited training bodies offering manager training courses both in the classroom and online. It is important to assess not only the content of the course but also the methodological approach and the quality of the instructors. A good course does not just convey theoretical information, but provides practical examples and strategies that can be applied immediately in daily work.
